It could be worse. I’ve been on holiday, so I didn’t notice any outages. The first I knew was today, where there’s a six-hour interruption.
I knew EveryDNS belonged to Dyn — they managed to send me that email. But, although my address hasn’t changed, they didn’t tell me DNS would stop working.
I’ve transferred to Dyn, as I don’t (at this stage) have time to investigate and set up alternatives. But, it looks like there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee. I’ll be investigating other providers.

Thank you for leaving a comment, Katie! It's always awesome to hear from people walking similar paths. How is the psychology school going? I have a feeling it would be kind of hard; making a change of careers this stark in contrast.

Funny. I have the same “career” description, and tried PsyD school. I haven’t finished…yet. :-) Interesting that another landed in this job…and that I found your website by chance by following a link from wordpress.org. I’m particularly fond of Seagate’s Momentus line of hard drive, since they happen to offer an FDE model, one of which is FIPS compliant.
These particular drives are encrypted at the hardware level, and are designed in such a way that if you feed it the wrong password too many times, it turns the data to slaw and locks the drive. Can’t even reformat the drive to reinstall the OS, I’ve found.
Those’re the fun calls I take when I get these people calling in, and have locked themselves out of the FDE HDD, because they were stupid on setting it up — I get one a year.
Those are the ones that Kroll and DriveSavers couldn’t do much with, if memory serves me well.

The kickstand killswitch failed, and I took off without raising the kickstand. I started with a slow right turn out of my parking spot, but bounced off the kickstand when trying to make a left until it pushed me into the curb. I couldn't walk for a few days, and was really really sore for a few months; the connie took a beating to the face and lost the left front footrest, but is otherwise okay. Buying the damaged cosmetics from Bikerbandit would cost about what I paid for the bike in the first place. ;_;
