Responsibilities include working with marketing to create web applications, forms, websites, feeds of data, tools and other scripts to solve problems and meet the needs of their department, as well as provide suggestions and guidance in the role of a consultant on SEO and SEM campaigns, use of Google Analytics and best practices in blogging; manage and troubleshoot problems with listing, agent and office data feeds; updating content and appearance of static content pages on apr.com, open.apr.com, and intranet; creating tools which interface with existing systems, as well as documentation of those systems and tools to for the internal IT department’s use. Additional responsibilities include installing and managing a Wordpress MU installation, as well as managing and administrating the Ubuntu 9.10 based server upon which it is hosted, providing guidance and advice to the other members of IT when needed; exclusively responding to and resolving all web related support requests from both in and outside the company.

Senior Field Support Engineer
Responsibilities include managing 3rd party developers' tasks, assisting with webmaster related issues, coding tools for help desk use in PHP and Visual Basic, finding and reporting bugs in applications and website, and working to better understand how the innards of our system work to be able to assist in projects involving our database. Additional responsibilities include: Coding automated data feeds and generally keeping on top of all of the software issues and fixes in the department to assist in providing training to the techs.

Responsibilities include supporting all company owned hardware and software as well as personally owned equipment for real estate agents on site in four offices, located in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Woodside. Supported hardware at the time included company owned Desktop PCs and associated equipment, company owned laptops and associated equipment, company owned network laser printers, and company owned server hardware, as well as client owned laptops, desktops, and smart phones including Windows Mobile, Palm, iPhone and Blackberry.

Counter Intelligence Agent
Provided assistance, hardware and software support, and training for both Mac and PC desktops and laptops, iPods and other related hardware at a service counter inside a Best Buy Store in Mankato, Minnesota. In addition to providing support, the position included providing shopping assistance to customers who were unsure of what they wanted or didn't know what they needed.

Taurweb Web Hosting
Provides web and email hosting to non profits on a combination of collocated servers and provided dedicated server hardware running Ubuntu server, Apache2, PHP5, Python and Pylons, Ruby on Rails, with MySQL and PostgreSQL as available backend options. Hosting services are currently offered under the name “Taurweb”, a joint effort between Aaron Goulding (a close personal friend and previous co-worker) and myself.
1998 – 2004 (6 years)
Web Hosting
Cobbled together a web server running Apache (and later IIS6 for a challenge) to run PHP and Perl based scripts. The web server hosted my personal projects, forums and later webmail for an internally hosted email server. This project would eventually turn into Taurweb web hosting.

I completed one semester in a network administration program while still in high school as a part of Minnesota’s “Post Secondary for Education” program. I finished the 14 credit semester with a GPA of 3.65, but chose not to continue the course as several friends holding network administration positions lost their jobs to outsourcing by the end of my first semester.
